Boot.devReviews of boot.dev

Not beginner friendly at all. This doesn't teach you how to think like a programmer, just tells you the name of something and examples, but doesn't explain how anything works. Just "trust me, this works" which is frustrating because I want to know the WHY so I can actually program on my own. I DO NOT recommend this site for anyone starting out. There are better FREE resources on YouTube. I'm just glad I never bought the subscription. It's just as bad as Duolingo for learning a new language. Also, the interface is cluttered, distracting, and SUPER SLOW. I will NOT be revisiting this site.

Lane Wagner refuses to hear constructive feedback about the platform. The courses are not worth the money. They are surface level and don't go in depth. I got a sub last month to study DevOps and I asked around in the discord channel whether it is worth it for devops. People said yes but when I look in the curriculum a lot of courses are missing. Not only that but the ones that are there are not really good enough as they don't go in depth. For Example, the kubernetes course doesn't go into kubernetes adminstration and other topics that are asked frequently in interviews and are necessary to get a job. The docker course was so simple and devoid of any depth that I finished it in an afternoon. I would only recommend a sub to COMPLETE BEGINNERS. People who have even a little bit of experience STAY AWAY from boot.dev. It is expensive and a waste of time and money.

Difficult to get through the courses for a non-programmer. The learning curve is to steep from one point to another.

Starts off fine, but eventually stops helping you in any way with their "ai assistant" just repeating what you've already done and repeating the task's requirements, and when you try to get any useful info out of it, it just calls you "cub" and tells you to figure it out by yourself. In the end, you are left learning nothing, extremely frustrated at the lack of assistance, wasting your time and potentially even money. If you are starting your coding journey, do NOT use this. You will get nowhere.
