Spectrum free phone…comes with strings attached.8
After moving into a Spectrum phone service area I accepted their offer of 1 year free unlimited data with a phone purchase. Everything worked as expected until I tried to move to a cheaper service at year's end. Everyone but Spectrum said my phone was locked, except Motorola. I got a three-party call with Moto and Spectrum's Tech Dept. Thanks to Moto for exposing Spectrum's scam and walking me thru the unlock steps. I must have asked Spectrum a dozen times if the phone was truly unlocked and every call led to some kind of incentive to stay with Spectrum. No way.
