Extremely Disappointing Experience with Clutch – More Interested in Selling Verified Than Helping Businesses
Extremely Disappointing Experience with Clutch – More Interested in Selling Verified Than Helping Businesses My experience with Clutch has been extremely disappointing. I joined the platform to build my agency's credibility and attract new clients, but instead, I have spent weeks dealing with poor communication and a frustrating review verification process. One of our clients submitted a review on September 19, 2026. For almost a month, I repeatedly contacted support, sometimes daily, and was reassured that everything was fine ( because status of review was not updated more than 24+ dayds ). Eventually, I discovered that the review had not been approved. I contacted the client directly, who confirmed they had not received any requests from Clutch for additional information. I provided evidence of our genuine collaboration, including the client's live website, our development credit, and screenshots of our project communication. Yet I still haven't received a clear explanation of why the review was not approved or what needs to happen next. I understand the need to verify reviews and prevent fake feedback. However, the process should be transparent and efficient. Keeping businesses waiting for weeks without clear answers is unacceptable. What makes this experience even more frustrating is Clutch's constant promotion of its paid Verified subscription. I receive emails almost daily encouraging me to upgrade, often with special offers and discounts. Meanwhile, getting a straightforward answer about a legitimate client review seems to be far less of a priority. Clutch appears much more proactive about selling paid services than resolving customers' actual problems. I cannot say that paying for Verified would change the outcome, nor can I claim that Clutch deliberately blocks reviews to force upgrades. However, the contrast between aggressive sales emails and the lack of meaningful support raises serious questions about the platform's priorities. I joined Clutch to explore its potential for growing my agency. Instead, I have wasted considerable time chasing support and questioning whether the platform offers genuine value to businesses that want to build their reputation. Clutch needs to improve its verification process, explain decisions clearly, communicate proactively, and respect its customers' time. Helping businesses build credibility should be just as important as selling them subscriptions. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Clutch to agencies looking for a transparent, reliable, and supportive platform to grow their business.
Response from Clutch· Oct 22, 2026
Hi Vitalii, Thank you for laying this out in detail, and we sincerely apologize for the delay. Your client's review is now published on your profile. We're seeing higher review volume than usual and are working to bring processing times down. On Clutch Verified: we're sorry it felt like you had to upgrade to get a straight answer about your review. Verified is never required to get support or to have a review approved. However, we do hear you on the volume of promotional emails, especially while you were waiting on support. That's fair feedback, and we've shared it with our team. If you have any other questions about your profile or future reviews, please reach out to our team, and we'll make sure you get a clear answer.
