two problems with my order
Problem #1: They charged me sales tax even though prescription eyeglasses are not subject to sales tax in New York City. If the company was from outside NYC, I would give them the benefit of the doubt that it was an honest mistake. But the company’s shop is right here in NYC. How could they not know the local law? (They did give me a prompt refund when I pointed out their mistake. But I should not have had to be their watchdog.) It makes me wonder whether I am the only customer that they did this to, so I’d suggest other NYC customers to check their invoices and request a refund if appropriate. Problem #2: I ordered extra thin high index (1.67) lenses. But the glasses arrived with lenses that were significantly thicker than my old pair with 1.67 index lenses (which I bought previously from another shop). The only explanation for this that I can think of is that they made my glasses with cheaper lenses (instead of the more expensive high index lenses that I paid for).
