Horrible experience! Paid almost 2k for 20 hours of driving lessons and still i failed the test 4 times. I dont know if this company is a scam, i’ve heard from other people that their retest rate was pretty high. After failing twice at the Boulder location, they made me retake the test at a different branch, and the instructor at that location even apologized on behalf of the Boulder branch, saying how they should have done a better job at my lessons. My decision to enroll here was the worst thing for my driving skills, do NOT recommend!

My experience with this company was…
My experience with this company was incredibly bizarre and frustrating due to a total lack of organizational trust, substandard working conditions, and absent leadership. Despite demanding an on-site IT presence, the company provides zero backstock or basic equipment; I was forced to use an antiquated 15-year-old monitor balanced on top of an empty router box inside a cramped, obstructed, sub-200-square-foot room with a highly disruptive coworker. Compounding this, leadership has entirely tied the hands of the IT department out of paranoia over past employees. Routine technical tasks that should take minutes now require layers of executive approval and can take weeks to resolve. Meanwhile, domestic IT staff are denied the basic administrative access required to manage the network safely, even though broad VPN access is granted to unsecured overseas contractors over a network built heavily on freeware and open-source tools. Management presence is strictly performative; the manager openly stated during hiring that he would just be happy if someone stayed three months, spent his time on his own outside businesses, and remained entirely unresponsive to direct messages. To top it off, there is a severe disparity in compensation; while headhunters and site managers get full benefits and PTO, IT is left with a strict hourly rate and virtually nonexistent health coverage. This company simply does not respect or understand the basics of IT. Edit after reading comment. Hello random person who has decided to insert themselves. I was told going into the meeting i was not in trouble or being reprimanded. I was told they would work with me thats why i asked for my job back. I thought they would be willing based on their own words. My dismisal came after i sent them my two weeks notice during the meeting. You sure seem to use alot of we and us. Who even are you? You were involved in 0 percent of all of this except you desided to respond with attempted damage control. Gross all the way around, if you are privy to my situation that means leadership and HR does not keep things confidential. You know 0 about the tech used as you dont work in IT and did not support the equipment ever. Feel free to plague someone elses experience preferably one you had involvment in. My review did not come after their refusal to rehire. It came after i recieved my final check. They were withholding and said that they were not responsible that i recieve my final check once they dropped it off at the post. Its common for keyboard warriors or trolls to feel as if someone elses experience is their own. Regardless i wouldnt trust this company.
Response from DriveSafe Driving Schools· Aug 7, 2026
Hi Jessie, thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. We're sorry that your experience with DriveSafe left you feeling frustrated. Many of the concerns you raised were first shared with us during an unrelated conversation near the end of your employment. We welcomed the opportunity to discuss and explore possible solutions, but you ultimately chose to end your employment rather than continue that conversation. Afterward, you asked to return to the company, and we made the decision not to rehire you.
While we respect your right to share your experience, we also believe it's important to provide additional context. Several of the concerns in your review do not reflect the full picture of how our IT environment operates. Our security controls, approval processes, and administrative access policies are intentional safeguards designed to protect our systems, our employees, and our customers. Although these processes can sometimes make routine requests take longer, we believe careful change management is the responsible approach.
Like many organizations, we continuously invest in improving our equipment, technology, and workspaces. While individual workstations may vary, we strive to provide employees with the tools they need to perform their jobs effectively. We recognize that everyone has different experiences and perspectives, and we respect your right to express yours. We do feel that readers should know that this review was posted after your employment ended and after we declined your request to return to the company. We appreciate the time you spent with DriveSafe and regret that things did not end on better terms. We sincerely wish you success in finding an opportunity that's a better fit for you! Best, DriveSafe Team

DriveSafe feels like a state run scam
I am not sure how a private instructing business became the only way to take a driving test in Arapahoe county CO. through the DMV website. It is definitely a conflict of interest for citizens considering they charge about $100 per test. Out of eight people/students that came in for a test, seven were re tests. What happened to drive tests at the Colorado DMV? My daughter was failed for two uncommon things. They told her on a right turn, you have to drive in the bike lane then move into the traffic lane. Maybe someone could explain to me how driving in the bike lane is OK or safe when there is an entire lane for cars?
The other was not checking your rear view mirror at every single intersection to make sure no one is tailgating you. They did not allow the parent or guardian to be present when explaining the failure or driving test debrief. I was just required to collect payment for another retest. She was also told by the tester in front of me, "I could have let you pass". Why even say something like that?! That is just frustrating. Other parents I talked to in the waiting area had similar experiences on their students first tests. Please be aware, dealing with them feels like a complete scam. Because it is. A scam encouraged by the state of Colorado. Best of luck!

Do not trust DriveSafe
Do not trust DriveSafe. Once you give them your payment, they refuse to cancel or transfer. They are also much more expensive than other services without any added benefits. They will retrieve PII (personally identifiable information) about your family without your consent. They do not review their "terms and conditions" with you before a purchase and will lie and say they did. They are false and misleading. They make no exceptions. BEWARE.

I may be out $700
I may be out $700. I signed my daughter up for classes and was charged twice. I called to request a refund for the 2nd charge and was told it was processed. I was given a confirmation number and the money would show up in my account in a few days. My bank has confirmed the money has not hit my account, 4 months later. ( I know I should have checked my account sooner) DriveSafe said they would look into it and call me back. It has been two weeks since they said that and I haven't heard from them so I am letting my bank address it.

Drivesafe is a mediocre company at…
Drivesafe is a mediocre company at best. Their drive instructors preach a program that they themselves do not adhere to - outside of instructional circumstances. The "hand-Over-hand" technique is outdated and is potentially unsafe. It is best suited for truckers who drive large rigs that are steered using larger and more horizontal steering wheels. Their business model, which crams as many drive instructions as possible in a single day for each drive instructor can lead to dangerous circumstances as fatigue sets in. Many student driver are assessed and passed so long as they satisfy the minimum behind-the-wheel hours necessary to qualify to take the DMV drive test - HOWEVER, not all students who satisfy this minimum BTW time are actually ready and skilled enough to take the DMV test. The company has a high attrition rate and thus a high turnover of drive instructors who themselves take a cash course in drive instruction - lasting only mere hours, before being thrust onto the schedule and paired with inexperienced drivers. The burn-out is evident in most of their drive instructors. The mission of this company is not to properly educate drivers, but to turn a profit by conveyer belt processing of as many drive students as possible.

Very difficult to schedule lessons
Very difficult to schedule lessons - but DriveSafe have no issue take all payment up front. It's unacceptable to have zero slots in a 30 day period and expect people to book lessons months in advance. Utterly ridiculous - to new customers, if you do use this service, do not expect it to be easy even getting a session.

Avoid At All Costs!!!
I don't even know where to start to say how awful my experience with drive safe was. As you start the 30-hour online course, the site is very old and riddled with glitches. Throughout the course, the material is very poor to say the least. The same 12-second clip of electronic music repeats endlessly for the duration of the course. Instead of the instructor talking steadily and presenting information, the voiceover constantly pauses while a video of a hand drawing something finishes. In review segments, you are given some information to read, and a timer which must run out before you can proceed. It took one minute and 15 seconds (Yes, I timed it) for the timer to run out on a single, eight-word sentence. The instructors took about ten minutes for each of them to read various tongue twisters (She sells seashells and others) instead of filling the time with actual information about driving. I understand that it must be hard to fill a full 30 hours of time, but that's ridiculous.
The low-quality material is only one of many problems. The online course, which is supposed to take 30 hours, took 48 hours total to complete. This is due to various problems with the site. The learner clock which records the time which you have spent does not properly record. The timer would subtract anywhere from 5-30 minutes for every hour I spent in the course. Not only that, but the site is so glitchy that it takes up to 10 minutes to load to the next screen. I probably spent at least 10 full hours waiting for the site to load. The first time I called to let Drive Safe know about this, the employee was friendly and said that the problem was on my end. I ended up sending them dozens of screenshots where the site said that it was fine on my end, theirs was failing. This happened every single day I tried to log on. After the first time I called, it was near impossible to get a hold of anybody. After calling and leaving dozens of messages, someone would return my call saying the problem was fixed. But it wasn't. This went on and on for the whole time I was involved with Drive Safe.
When I finally finished the material, after endlessly fighting the bugs and glitches, the learner clock only recorded 23 hours. After calling five times over three days, I finally received a call from someone who said that I just needed to review to finish out the clock. But reviewing to log 7 hours of time would probably take more like 12 hours. But, with no choice, I reviewed the mind-numbing material for about 6 more hours, which only recorded 4 hours. At that point I called several more times, and FINALLY got someone who was willing to do their job. They set the clock to 30 hours, and I was FINALLY finished with the whole rotten thing.
Overall, Drive Safe has, by far, the worst customer service I have ever seen, along with their pathetic, agonizing driver education program. I have dozens of screenshots to show that their site does not work properly, the timer does not record time properly, and that it takes massive amounts of time to load. I probably called at least 50 times throughout the whole thing. Twice, I got a hold of an actual employee. Other times I left messages never to be responded to by the employees. Many times you call their number you get some random guy in India who has no idea what he's doing. I'm hoping that the actual driving lessons will be satisfactory, but as far as the Online experience and customer service, AVOID DRIVE SAFE LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! After all, you pay them upwards of $600 for the program, and in return, suffer through a miserable experience and get treated like garbage.
