I would rather live in the dark.
I wish there were an option for zero stars. My experience with Entergy has been absolutely unacceptable. Two years after selling my home and moving out, I was contacted by a collection agency regarding an alleged Entergy balance. The bill in question was dated a full month after I no longer owned or occupied the property. I had paid all of my utility expenses and taken care of my account before moving. What makes this even more unacceptable is that Entergy never contacted me about an outstanding balance. No bill. No phone call. No letter. No warning. Nothing. Instead, they apparently allowed the issue to sit for TWO YEARS and then sent it straight to collections. When I contacted Entergy to explain the situation, including the fact that the charge was dated after I had already sold the house, I was told there was nothing they could do. There was no meaningful attempt to investigate the discrepancy, no accountability, and no willingness to help resolve the situation. How is it reasonable for a company to wait two years to notify a former customer of an alleged debt—especially when the charge is dated after that customer no longer owned the property—and then send it to collections without ever providing notice? This experience has completely destroyed my confidence in Entergy's billing practices and customer service. Customers should not have to discover alleged balances through collection agencies years after closing an account. If you have ANY other option for your utility provider, I would strongly recommend considering it. And if you do use Entergy, document everything, keep every bill, and keep proof that your account was paid and closed. Based on my experience, you may need it.
