A transmitter chip that doesn't transmit?
I take responsibility for not fully understanding the product description before purchasing this Porsche 996 key. The listing referred to a "transponder chip," and I mistakenly assumed that meant the key included the remote transmitter electronics. That misunderstanding was mine, though Porsche does not refer to the security glass security code as a "transponder chip". The company's text support was professional and quickly helped identify the issue. I give them credit for that. However, after learning the key did not include the additional electronic components required for a complete replacement, I asked if they could sell me the missing parts. They said they do not offer them. I accepted that and simply requested a return authorization. Their response was: "We do provide a return label if the laser cutting was not successful for a warranty claim, but not for a change of mind." Fastestkey refused to authorize a return for an unused product that could never meet my needs because the necessary components aren't available from them. The lesson for other Porsche owners is to read the description very carefully. If you're expecting a complete 996 replacement key with the remote transmitter electronics, verify exactly what is included before ordering. Although their customer support was courteous, I was ultimately left with a product I can't use and no reasonable return option.
