I hired Home Energy Installation Pros to install a solar attic fan and multi-layer insulation. The latter part of the work was fine – overpriced but fine. I had a previous electric attic exhaust fan, so the hole was already cut. The first installation yielded leaks. It took OVER A WEEK for them to come out to fix it. The fix didn't work. They came out again and again the fix didn't work. I was ready to hire my own roofer, but they said they now had a roofer on their staff. I said OK. The 3rd “fix” still left a small leak but they damaged the plywood underlayment and broke a few shingles. I was done with them and didn't want them to ruin any more of my house. I called MHIC. They provided Home Energy Pros' liability insurance policy information. I filed a claim with the insurance company and a complaint with MHIC. I got repair estimates from a couple of reputable, local roofers and selected one. Home Energy Pros, a self-professed “Christian Company” told the insurance company that my roof was shot and that I had pre-existing leaks. Neither of these things were true. My roof is 18 years old with 30 year shingles. I've never had a leak (prior to this job). If they truly felt that my roof was shot, THEY SHOULD HAVE REFUSED THE JOB. The latest lies they have told is that they told me not to put a new fan in the same hole as the old fan. This is 100% FALSE. They never made this recommendation. They also now say that the old fan's installation was poorly done (first I've heard this). OK, so what? I hired them to install a new fan. I have no idea why they feel this is relevant. If this was a problem, then they should have itemized a cost to re-cut the hole. After all they put me through, to call ME a liar, is beyond the pale. The insurance company hired a structural engineer. Although I do not have access to his report, he told me that my roof most definitely was NOT shot and he saw no evidence of OLD leaks – just the new ones around the solar fan. The insurance company denied my claim of $2,750 to repair my roof because Home Energy Pros has a cheap liability policy that does NOT cover “work product” (like the plywood, the shingles...). This is a HUGE “buyer beware”. When a company says they are insured, I never knew they could be insured and not responsible for damages they caused. Their contract says: “Warranties: The seller warrants that any work or material provided or supplied shall be performed in a reasonably good and workmanlike manner”. I missed this warning of their admission that they strive for mediocrity. The roofer I paid out of pocket to remediate the mess they made wrote: “In my professional opinion as a licensed roofing contractor, this installation was executed in a completely unworkmanlike manner and falls well below standard industry building codes. Leaving a roof penetration unsealed without basic underlayment guarantees structural water damage. This work is unacceptable, and a complete teardown and proper re installation of the fan housing, surrounding underlayment, and shingles are required to protect the integrity of the home.” I would like this company to stand behind their “Christian Values” and do the right thing: pay the cost of the roof repair ($2,750). How they can damage my roof and just walk away unscathed is beyond me. They have (thus far) refused. UPDATE: The business's response is once again a bunch of lies. I also have photos of the old fan before their work and there is no damage evident. The structural engineer told me this when he came here to inspect. Yes, you used the existing hole from the old fan but never once did you tell me there were issues with this nor did your work order reflect additional risk or work. You're making this story up after the fact to cover for your incompetent installation. I also have photos from your installer after the 2nd fix that show that the shingles near the ridge vent (just above the fan) were not damaged before the 3 fix. You offered me a full refund of the solar fan installation job ($1,500)? I must have missed that. I thought you offered to refund the cost of the fan. I will consult with my lawyer again to see if he advises that I should call you directly. His preference was that we bring our evidence to small claims court. At that time, we can subpoena the report from the structural engineer. The roofer who I hired to do the repair is also prepared to testify.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We take feedback like this seriously and want to ensure every concern is properly addressed. We’re sorry this situation has been frustrating, and we appreciate the opportunity to respond to your concerns. Your roof is approximately 18 years old, and an electric attic fan was already installed in this location before our work began. We have photographs taken prior to our installation documenting the existing condition and damage around the previous fan. We did not choose the location or cut a new opening in your roof; we used the existing opening. We returned to your home several times in an effort to address your concerns. After your insurance claim was denied, you requested approximately $2,700 for roof repairs, including work to areas such as the ridge vent that our company did not touch. We offered you a full refund in an effort to resolve the matter, which you declined. We understand your disappointment, but we cannot accept responsibility for pre-existing damage or repairs to areas outside the scope of our work. Please reach out to our team directly at [email protected] or give our office line a call at 833-359-3536, so we can look into this further. We are more than willing to review what happened and work toward a resolution. We sincerely wish you the best moving forward. Thank you, Home Energy Pros

My initial contact with Home Energy Pros via in-person cold call was friendly, professional, and informative. Next day, Jayden performed an extensive inspection and a fully descriptive sales pitch with willingness to work with me on the details. We completed the contract and arrangements the next day. Kian and Jason arrived the following day and performed a secondary inspection and then followed through with all contracted work in a professional manner providing me with photos of the job after completion. A pleasure dealing with them. Since my attic has a tiny access point of 1 sq ft, I'm not going up there, so the photos both Jayden and Kian took were of great value. I won't know about the overall utility benefit from the new insulation for quite a while, but since it had been 40 years since blown product had been installed, it was overdue. Overall, my interactions with Home Energy Pros has been quite positive.

I previously wrote a low-star review but since, Home Energy Pro has responded and rectified the problem with a refund for the part of the project that they were unable to complete. While I would have rather had the insulation in the all-season-porch roof, the fact that it was not accessible was not their fault, so I do appreciate the refund, as I had been initially charged for the materials and labor. In summary, I would say they did the right thing, and many businesses these days to not, so I upgraded their score. Would I use them again? I am not sure. But the attic insulation and solar fan seem to have been very good products and I am satisfied with those things. The mold remediation was barely satisfactory- as some returned within a month.

Home Energy Pro did work on my home in March 2026. I called several times because: 1. They did not insulate the all-season porch which I paid to have done because the sub-contractors putting in the insulation told me they couldn't access the space. Those sub-contractors told me to sign the form that the work was finished (because the other work was finished), and they would vouch for me that the all-season porch work had not been done according to the contract. I have asked for a refund for the labor and materials which I paid for and there has been no response. 2. The mold remediation that they did apparently was not thorough, as the mold began returning within a month. 3. The total job cost $11,900. It involved insulation in the attic, mold remediation in spots in the attic, spots in the crawl space, and in the livingroom closet. It also involved putting plastic in the crawl space up the sides of the walls. (The crawl space had previously been waterproofed and covered in plastic, with a sump pump put in but they told me it still needed to be covered again because the plastic had not been run up the walls). They also put in a solar fan on my roof and stated that because they were professionals, it would not negate my new roof 50-year warranty when they cut through the shingles and the roof to install the fan). They sold their company as a Christian company that is honest with their customers which really did sway my decision, as it had to be made within 24 hours if I wanted the work done at the price quoted. I have not found them to be honest, as they have not contacted me nor have they tried to right the situation or credit my account for the undone insulation and labor. Nor have they tried to fix the return mold situation or even talk with me about it. I spoke several times with Haley who answers the phone at the business and is very nice and seems genuinely concerned and promised to relay the message. I am sure she did, but the person to whom she relayed my messages has not contacted me. It is now April, 2 months after they came, and I've not heard from them at all. The other work performed was fine as far as I can tell. (I am a 71 year old woman who can't really crawl under the house to inspect a crawlspace or onto the roof to inspect the solar fan, so I am depending on the photos that they took for my opinion). The mold showing up is showing up in the closet floor where they did mold remediation is accessible to me but all the other places that they did work are not. Based on my experience with this company, I would not recommend you do business with them. If you do business with them, do not sign the contract if things are not completed correctly or completely, because they do not make things right even if they know they have done you wrong. To me, that is not what a company portraying themselves as Christian does to their customers. Very disappointing. I called on March 18 and spoke with Haley I called again on April 1- spoke with Natalie No responses as of yet I called today, May 1, and spoke with Grace who informed me that someone had called and talked to me. That is untrue. No one else answers my cell phone and no messages were left. I do not have a landline. I asked that they contact me via email since they do not seem able to contact me via phone since 'no one is in the office' is the standard reply I get when talking with them. May 1- I have finally heard from Home Energy Pro after my last phone call. If they follow through with what was said in the phone call, I will be satisfied and write an updated review and update my experience to 4 stars. I think because they didn't call for 2+ months I would probably still not give them 5 stars, but we shall see.
