Such a great programme, very structured and the teachers are extremely supportive! I’m learning Arabic just out of interest and appreciation, and they’re so helpful and patient with me even though a lot of my classmates have more exposure to the language than I do. I’d recommend Lingua Verna to anyone who wants to take Arabic learning seriously!

I started learning Arabic to connect more with my Lebanese family, and Lingua Verna has been fantastic. I had struggled with other courses where you were taught a lot in a weekly class and then quickly moved on, without enough time to properly practise or retain what you’d learned. LV’s approach is completely different: the lessons are bite-sized and well structured, with a weekly conversation group and excellent online resources that make it easy to practise between sessions. Each week also has clear, specific things to focus on and revise, so I know exactly what I need to work on before the conversation group. This means I actually spend time learning and retaining the language rather than just being introduced to new material and moving on. I’m now at Level 4 and I can read, write, speak and understand so much more than I ever thought I would be able to. I’ve also had the pleasure of learning with several different instructors, and they are all incredibly patient, encouraging and genuinely lovely to talk to - it feels like catching up with a friend. I’d highly recommend Lingua Verna to anyone who wants to actually speak Levantine Arabic, rather than just learn it in a classroom.

I’ve been married to my partner who’s from Syria for almost ten years and had always struggled to find Arabic lessons that were relevant to the Levantine dialect my husband and his family use. Lingua Verna made learning Levantine Arabic so accessible and fun! All the instructors have been super patient and encouraging throughout the four levels I participated in. I highly recommend Lingua Verna for anyone looking to learn the Levantine dialects.

I took their intro level courses to Levantine Arabic (currently taking level 4) and I found them very helpful for myself as someone who has grown up well exposed to Arabic but never feeling solid in my Arabic. I knew many disconnected or random bits of vocabulary but could not form a sentence or any way to string together a thought for me. For people who have grown up with Arab parents or relatives with high exposure but no sense of how to put words together, highly recommend.

I have taken a lot of classes, Lingua Verna is the only one that breaks down Arabic grammar into units that then builds on one another. It makes sense. Transliteration is used to introduce Arabic script and everything is cross-referenced between Arabic and English, written and spoken. This technique encourages learning and if one gets lost the steps are easy to retrace. The instructors are all excellent. There is a variety of dialects from the Levant, which is well represented. I particularly like the conversation component and wish there was more time to speak with Arabic speakers in the groups. I began the class with course 1 to work on verb tenses and to identify the noun or pronoun that acts as the subject, determine its gender and number, and then change the endings of the adjectives and verbs to match. This course goes step by step clarifying grammatical agreement.

I've been learning arabic with Lingua Verna for a little over a year now and I don't think there is an online school for arabic as efficient and noteworthy as them. The teachers care deeply for their students and the program is built to be more dynamic than traditional learning models. I recommend LV to so many friends because I am blown away by the courses and resources available to us here. Classes feel personalized and there is attention to detail at every level. Absolutely love my experience so far!

I finished the four introductory courses and really love this program! There is a ton of quality content, and the grammar is thoroughly explained (including variations among Levantine dialects), which is very hard to find. The instructors are fantastic -- very friendly and helpful. I've appreciated the ability to regularly meet live but also self-pace when needed. I think it's a great fit and very welcoming for anyone (heritage speakers, spouses/partners, language enthusiasts).
