I am a collector got Sick and had a heart attack and needed to sell off 24 of my 90 vehicles collection. I had never sold anything at Mecum’s prior always bought and sold at Barrett Jackson for twenty years. On Tuesday in Glendale Steve mecum sales person told me don’t worry the money is there in the start of the auction. After Tuesday I wanted to pull the rest of my vehicles. The auctioneer on Tuesday rushed through the vehicles so fast. 20-30 seconds that it on the block. He didn’t try to even work the price. Then off to next one. For example 1968 Camaro RS fully restored matching numbers bought at Barrett Jackson for $80 thousand five years ago sold at mecum for only $33 thousand. CJ7 1982 decked out. Bought Barrett Jackson $78 thousand sold at mecum for $23 thousand. Collectors stay clear of mecum and don’t believe what they tell you. They will mislead you to get the vehicles then tell you you new the risk. Risk, they didn’t have any buyers there. It was almost empty when the auction started on Tuesday And the contract you sign gives them all the rights to dictate to you if you want the rest of your vehicles not auctioned yet removed because the auctioneer was rushing and not working the price.
