Make it easier o transfer from one solar provider to another. I had enrolled with another solar provider but was dissatisfied with their billing process. I realized that it would take 90 days for a change to another provider, but there seemed to be a great deal of concern about my motives. I simply wanted to make a change.

I sent an email to Nexamp 3 days ago asking why my bill has doubled since I started with Nexamp. iI started with Nexamp to be a little more green and maybe reduce my cost. I have not received a response. Not happy, will have to cancel with Nexamp and revert to THE GRID !
Response from Nexamp· Oct 28, 2025
Hello Mike,
Thank you for your feedback, and we’re very sorry that you haven’t received a response yet. Our team will be reaching out to you shortly to discuss your concerns directly and help clarify your account.
As a quick reference, in New York, Nexamp community solar credits are applied based on your electricity usage and the amount of energy generated by your share of the solar farm during a given period. Because Nexamp bills in arrears, the charges on your statement reflect credits produced during a prior production period, so they may not align with the same month shown on your utility bill.
When reviewing your bills, we recommend comparing the production dates on your Nexamp invoice with your National Grid statement to see when and where your credits were applied. No matter the month or production amount, you continue to receive a 10% discount on all applied credits.
We look forward to connecting with you soon. In the meantime, if you have additional questions, our support team is available at 855-727-4636 or [email protected], Monday through Friday, from 8:30 AM to 6:00 PM EST.

Still no communication if I there is a solar farm available in my area. Was hoping that would be address up front. If building that is a good answer.
Response from Nexamp· Oct 24, 2025
Hello Tom,
Thank you for your feedback. Once enrollment is completed, customers are often not placed on a solar farm right away. Space needs to become available in your utility area, and when it does, we’ll follow up with the next steps and subscription details.
We understand that many customers are excited to start seeing the benefits of community solar right away, and we truly appreciate your patience as we work to match you with a farm. As demand continues to grow, we’re actively working to bring new projects online and will keep you informed with any updates.
We look forward to providing the benefits of the program to you as soon as possible.

NEXAMP not the best for us!
We tried NEXAMP for over a year here in Lewiston NY. There billing practices employ back billing for up to 4 months so keeping track of how much you owe and when they bill for it can be very confusing. It typically took 40 minutes to deal with their bill each month with 3 minutes average each for all our other utilities. Some months no bill at all and other months hundreds of dollars owed that was unexpectedly. We did save about 10% off our electric costs overall but the aggravation of dealing with old bills and customer service that can't explain how the billing works forced us to quit their service. But remember the 4 month delay in billing means the bills keep coming even after you leave them. If you don't keep track of your bills and just pay whatever bill they send then you will probably will like their business model. For those of you that keep track I would recommend avoiding Nexamp.

Hello John,
Thank you for sharing your concerns. We’re truly sorry for the frustration you experienced. We understand that the program may not be the right fit for everyone and appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback.
In New York, community solar billing is in arrears, meaning your utility first applies the solar credits to your bill, and Nexamp invoices you afterward. We know this process can feel unconventional, especially when multiple months are included in a single invoice.
There is also a delay between when credits appear on your utility bill and when you receive our invoice, as we wait for confirmation from your utility before billing. Once confirmed, we apply your contracted discount to the credits and send the invoice.
What we can confirm is that you always receive the full credit and your discount, regardless of when the invoice is issued. At Nexamp, we are committed to making the process as clear and seamless as possible. If you’re open to it, we’d be glad to review your billing timeline and can also provide a summary of your historical credits, payments, and savings. We appreciate your understanding and are here to help.

Late arriving large electric bill for…
Late arriving large electric bill for June and July after previously automated payment. Never have experienced such an esoteric and convoluted utility bill before. Causes me to question Nexamps integrity and competence.
Response from Nexamp· Sep 30, 2025
Hello John,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear about the confusion and frustration surrounding your recent billing experience. Nexamp is committed to providing a transparent and reliable customer experience, and we regret that this has not been the case for you.
To clarify, Nexamp invoices customers only after we receive confirmation from your utility that solar credits have been applied to your account. Occasionally, delays from the utility in transmitting this information can affect the timing of our billing. In your case, we received two months’ worth of credit data from the utility in close succession, which resulted in both June and July credits being included on a single invoice. We understand how unexpected this can be and apologize for any inconvenience it caused.
Our goal is always to stay as current as possible with invoicing, and we’re happy to work with you if a payment plan would be helpful in spreading out the cost. Please don’t hesitate to contact our support team at 855-727-4636 or [email protected] to discuss options that work best for you.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention and remain committed to providing a positive experience for all our customers.

It is a very complicated program to receive a little relief with my electric bill
Response from Nexamp· Jan 3, 2025
Hello Daniel,
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re truly sorry to hear that our program felt overly complicated and that the savings did not meet your expectations. At Nexamp, our goal is to make the program as clear and straightforward as possible, and we regret that this was not your experience.
We understand that you reached out to our support team for clarity, and we sincerely apologize that these interactions did not fully resolve your concerns. Transparency is important to us, especially regarding the two-bill system and how credits are applied to showcase your savings. While we strive to provide the highest possible discount within the parameters of your state, we recognize the importance of clear communication in ensuring our customers feel the full benefit of the program.
While we’re sorry to see you go, we greatly appreciate the opportunity to learn from your feedback. Please know that our customer support team remains available to assist with any further questions or concerns.

Response from Nexamp· Jun 11, 2024
Hello David,
Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any delays you have experienced. We aim to provide clarity regarding our enrollment process timeline. Due to the high demand for space on our solar farms, customers are typically added to a waitlist upon signing up. These waitlist timelines vary by state and cannot be guaranteed. We understand the frustration caused by unforeseen delays in getting your account off the waitlist. As mentioned in our recent conversation, we are taking additional steps to ensure you can be added to a live project and experience savings as soon as possible.
We again apologize for the delays, and we hope the steps we have taken to address your concerns are adequate. If you have additional questions regarding your Nexamp account, you can reach our support team at 855-727-4636 or [email protected]. We are available Monday-Friday from 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM EST.

Buyer Beware - Takes a very long time to cancel, and NO REFUND on credits you can't use.
Buyer Beware - this service is good for saving some money in the long haul, so it is good for someone who plans on staying put for a long time. The contract takes a very long time to get out of. They tell you that you can opt out, but you have to plan for it up to a year in advance. Nexamp will continue creating and billing you for solar credits long after you cancel. This is not very clear in the contract you'll sign. They also tend to over-credit you (i.e. charge you for $400 in credits when you only use $200 in electricity) so you will have a large credit balance with your utility company that will take a long time to burn down, and there is NO REFUND for these credits. That is also not mentioned in the contract. I lost about $1000 in credits I paid Nexamp for but could not use because I closed my utility account (I moved), and then I continued to get bills for more new credits I couldn't use for months to come. Again, there is NO REFUND on credits, your Utility company apparently gets to keep them if you close your account. Also, Nexamp sales people will tell you that you can cancel with 90 day notice, but in MA it is actually 120 days, and even then you still need to burn off all the excess credits they over-billed you for. If you are even thinking of moving within a year, you should cancel immediately so you have 90-120 days to actually stop accumulating (and paying for) credits, and then another number of months to actually burn off all the excess credits sitting in your utility account before you close your account. All of those caveats should be clearly called out in the contract, but they are not, so many people are taken by surprise when they go to close their account and find out they can't get back the money they paid in but can't use, and have to still keep paying for new credits even though they can't use them either. Again, Buyer Beware!

Hello Ken,
Thank you for your thoughts. We appreciate you reaching out and explaining your circumstances, and hope the details provided below can help you move forward.
When you first signed up with our program, we analyzed your usage and electricity costs to estimate a share size on our solar farm that should cover close to 90% of your electrical costs for the year. To cover these costs, it is typical for our customers to produce more credits than what they need in the summer months when days are long and sunny, to reduce their utility costs still substantially in the winter when solar energy production is less. The excess credits that are generated in the summer months will remain on your Unitil account and will be used during those months where your usage is greater than the energy credits generated by the solar farm.
Since Nexamp does not have direct access to view if you have excess credits with your utility, we strongly recommend that you monitor what your credit bank is and if you do feel it is too high, to reach out to us so we can reanalyze your share size so you can generate fewer new credits and utilize your excess credits more quickly.
As for the timeline to adjust customers’ accounts, we are limited to 4 submissions to the utility a year per the program’s regulations. These are submitted each quarter so that there is a consistent schedule to make changes for our thousands of customers. Whether it be to adjust subscription sizes on our farm or process cancelation requests, the process is not immediate, and it is referenced in the contract you signed with Nexamp. It is also important to note that Nexamp bills our services in arrears, so there is always a delay between when you see credits on your Unitil account and when we bill you. This explains why you received and paid Nexamp invoices after your cancelation request date.
Regarding the excess solar credits that you had on your utility account at the time of your move, we are willing to work with you to find a solution that works for both parties. While it is out of Nexamp’s control to determine what your utility can do with those credits, we are continuing to advocate on our customers’ behalf to create more customer-friendly regulations in the future. To assist with your specific concerns, we will reach out to you to learn more.
We appreciate your time as a Nexamp subscriber and look forward to assisting your needs moving forward.
