PlottrReviews of plottr.com

I like Plottr, but I'm not certain I love it. Then again, I'm not certain I am using it most effectively. I run my chapters along the top grid and my key characters down the left. I write in Plottr then cut and paste it into Word. I would like a character tree of some kind that would allow me to easily view relationships between the characters, parents, kids, friends, bosses, co-workers, etc.

I enjoy using Plottr. It has helped a lot with outlining my stories. Using the software has helped me figure out some big picture things regarding my protagonists.

On top of Plotter having all the features I need and want for outlining my plot and keeping track of world building notes, the support team is always quick to answer any questions I've had about the application on various operating systems or about my account. The timeline function is incredibly useful, being able to visualize my plot points and rearrange them is fantastic! I've found it useful for planning any kind of story from short stories to custom RPG campaigns.

Plottr is not just a phenomenal tool for ensuring you hit every beat in your story, developing a well-structured, perfectly satisfying story. But it also ensures you never start with a blank page. Whether you're actually a plotter or if you're a pantser, you can use these outlines to kickstart your creative juices, using the beat descriptions as the start to your writing session. I love this tool and can no longer live(write) without it.

I've been using Plottr since 2020. I use it to plot both short stories and novels (and a screenplay). It absolutely works for me! I've tried everything in the past, both digital and physical -- index cards, MS Excel, you name it. Plottr is intuitive to use, flexible, customizable. It meets all my needs! Happy writing!

very intuitive and customisable software! i love it.

I bought Plottr slightly over a year ago because I wanted to outline a novel in a way that would be easy to edit, but the available tools didn't seem helpful- Google Sheets seemed like it'd be clumsy while copy & pasting, plus visually distinguishing cells could be mentally cumbersome. I was averse to index cards for a number of reasons (my legibility is poor, space reasons, keeping track of them all, didn't want to write and re-erase everything, etc.). So I bought Plottr- and to be honest, I'm quite pleased with it. Over the next few months, I found I was able to reorganize my outline relatively easily as I started coming up with events. I don't remember when I got the major plot points into a satisfactory state as it was a gradual process, but I'm in a state right now where I can start writing up parts of my story, save as scenes and then click and drag in Plottr as needed to rearrange.

I hate to plot and tend toward being a pantser. This gives me a plan and I love being able to keep track of time, places, etc via tags. I only gave it 4 stars because is a bit pricey for an unpublished author.
