Excel Did It Better — For Free
After using ProjectManager.com for our plant startup project, I can't recommend it. The software is clunky, crashes frequently, and has lost data on multiple occasions — which is especially painful when you're managing complex, multi-workstream projects. What really stings is the backup situation: data recovery is locked behind the Business tier, even if you're already paying for Team. That feels like a bait-and-switch when you're mid-project and vulnerable. The feature set also falls short of what I had with a basic Excel Gantt — missing simple tools, limited flexibility, and more workarounds than workflows. But the biggest issue by far is support. When things went wrong, there was essentially no help available. For a paid product managing real project data, that's unacceptable. The price point might be justifiable if the software and support delivered — they don't. I've spent more time fighting this tool than using it. Look elsewhere.
