My experience as a contractor with Home…
My experience as a contractor with Home Depot Pro Referral has been extremely disappointing. I participated in the program as a service provider and accepted customer referrals through Home Depot. My account was ultimately involuntarily closed, and I was not provided with a clear, specific explanation of exactly what policy I allegedly violated or what evidence was used to make that decision. What is especially frustrating is that contractors are put in a difficult position when a customer dispute occurs. A business can have signed agreements, documented communications, and established cancellation policies, yet a customer's complaint can still have serious consequences for the contractor's relationship with the referral program. In my case, I believe customer complaints connected to legitimate business disputes may have contributed to the decision, but I have requested clarification because I want Home Depot Pro Referral to identify the actual reason for the termination rather than leaving me to speculate. A referral program should have a fair and transparent process for both sides. Contractors should be told what allegations were made, what program rule was supposedly violated, and be given a meaningful opportunity to provide documentation and respond before losing access to a source of business. After investing time, money, fuel, labor, scheduling resources, and customer service into leads generated through this program, being removed without a clear explanation has left me with very little confidence in the way Home Depot Pro Referral handles contractor disputes. I am willing to update this review if Home Depot conducts a fair review of my account, provides the specific reason for the termination, and gives me an opportunity to present the documentation surrounding the customer complaints involved.
