They do not tell you the truth about costs.
Tactacam uses misleading sales tactics to get you to buy in. We trusted them, used their trade-in program to give up multiple cameras from another brand, and spent a fortune on solar panels, accessories, and an annual multi-camera plan.
The trick they don't tell you upfront is that they restrict the pictures sent to your phone, meaning you miss a ton of wildlife movement that our old brand easily caught. Tactacam baits you with the hardware, then locks your photos behind a paywall, forcing you to pay even more money just to get all your pictures. They are not honest or transparent about the real cost of their data tiers. Do not fall for their trade-in traps or buy any cameras until you look at the hidden costs to get your pictures. Sadly mislead 😕

I am extremely disappointed with…
I am extremely disappointed with Tactacam Reveal and the customer service I have received. I have spent well over $3,000 on their cellular cameras, and this is not an issue with just one defective camera. I have now had MULTIPLE cameras get water inside the battery compartment/battery rack, along with ants getting inside the cameras. These are outdoor trail cameras that are supposed to be able to handle outdoor conditions, so I should not be dealing with water getting into multiple cameras.
What makes the situation even more frustrating is the process of trying to get the problem resolved. When I contacted Reveal Support about replacing a malfunctioning camera, they wanted me to provide my debit/credit card information before sending a replacement. I do not feel comfortable providing my card information for a replacement when I have already paid good money for cameras that are having the same problem over and over again.
At first, I thought maybe I just got one bad camera. Then I checked another camera that had stopped working properly and found the SAME problem—water and ants inside around the batteries. At that point, this stopped looking like an isolated defective camera to me. When you spend over $3,000 with a company, you expect the products to work as advertised and you expect the company to stand behind them when there is clearly a recurring issue.
I also recently purchased 10 more brand-new cameras that I planned on putting out. After seeing the same problem happening with multiple cameras and dealing with the headache of trying to get replacements, I am seriously considering returning all of the new cameras and going with another cellular trail-camera company.
I shouldn’t have to worry every time it rains about whether water is getting into the battery compartment of an outdoor camera. I also shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to get defective products replaced after spending this kind of money.
Based on my experience, SAVE YOUR MONEY AND LOOK AT A DIFFERENT COMPANY. I wish I had known about these issues before investing over $3,000 into this system. The cameras are only useful if you can depend on them, and right now I simply cannot depend on these cameras. The amount of time and hassle I have spent checking cameras, dealing with water and ants, troubleshooting cameras that aren’t working, and contacting support has not been worth it.
Tactacam/Reveal needs to address whatever is allowing moisture and insects into these cameras and make the replacement process easier for customers experiencing repeated failures. I would much rather have cameras that work reliably than spend my time going back and forth with customer support.
Unless Tactacam makes this right and replaces the defective cameras without putting me through another unnecessary hassle, I will be taking my business elsewhere and returning the 10 new cameras I recently purchased.

Purchased a couple tactacam 4.0s and they fog up badly even when not foggy outside. I see they carefully scrub negative reviews, so understand this is a legit place to post

Camera died at first use
Camera died at first use. Had to go to chat because no info in manual. Turns out « This model has a built-in SIM card. So it has to have a plan to find signal. Without signal the camera will not be able to take photos. It will just continue to search for signal until the batteries drain. »
I guess that’s what happened last night as it is dead this morning. Would be good if it said on the box or at least in the instructions that a data plan was required. Normally if something can do more it can do lesser tasks. I lost 12 batteries, 35 bucks, in this deal and they refused to credit that loss to another model. So much for customer service and satisfaction.

Why bother??
Had an issue with cellular not connecting after 8months of use. Happened when the payment lapsed on my account. Spent multiple times communicating with support to be told I had all kinds of issues with my setup, SD card wrong etc. went through the motions and still had an issue. Sent the camera in for repair, came back damaged. Advised support of the issue and they wanted me to resubmit everything just to get my camera back in, even though they did the damage.
