Overprice quote and diagnostic was not thorough
I have a car that needs a jump to get it started, and when the engine is off, it would require a jump to get it going again. Therefore, I think the battery needs to be replaced. The mechanic from wrench.com, an automobile mobile repair service, came to my home promptly and appeared like a friendly guy. However, after a 10-minute diagnostic, he said the bad battery would need to be replaced. I was a little disappointed because I had expected him to do a more thorough diagnostic to rule other things out, but for $135, he came to tell me that I needed a new battery, which I already knew. Btw, the battery was only no more than two years old. He also failed to look at the check engine light I had requested. When I pointed this out to him, he said, “since the car is off, I can’t check it.” Really dude??? He didn’t even make an effort to try to get the car jumped and get the engine started. After all this, he quoted $489 to replace the battery. Wow, seriously? Again, I was displeased and told him I could get this replaced for at least half that price elsewhere and that I would not be using his service. The only reason I had decided to use wrench.com in the first place was that they advertised their services as more cost-effective because they have no added overhead costs compared to traditional brick-and-mortar businesses. Because of this, they don’t have to spend money on added overhead costs; therefore, they can pass these savings on to the customer. I can tell you from first-hand experience that this is all BS. I I probably will not be using wrench.com anymore.
