VERY DISSATISFIED- Bought a new home that had been vacant a couple of months. Master bathtub spout leaked 3 days in the home creating flooding while in the shower. A plumber came out and in the course of determining the problem found the water pressure was abnormally high due to failure of both water expansion value from the water heater and the expansion tank affixed to the water heater. After quizzing my plumber on the phone with a number of questions on the phone the coverage was denied due “improper installation” by previous owner and that neither part that is actually attached to the water heater was also denied because they “not part of the water heater.” Beyond the interrogation with a number of questions to the plumber, I was very dissatisfied with what appears to be any technicality to deny assistance in questioning the plumber. I will be cancelling my coverage and looking for the refund balance of my annual payment.

Hello Dave, Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience with the warranty; I can understand your frustration with the claim determinations. The warranty is in place to assist with the cost of repairing or replacing specific items that have failed from normal wear and tear. After review of the claims on this contract, I see that the pressure reducing valve for the house failed, causing the water heater expansion tank to fail. These are not covered items under the warranty; therefore, we were unable to assist with these claims. I also see a claim for issues in the main bathroom caused by improper installation and a missing "O" ring. Due to the fact that the warranty only covers items that have failed from normal wear and tear, we were unable to assist with this claim as well. The warranty does offer a range of different covered items throughout the home for further value and satisfaction, which can be found in the warranty brochure. If you do not have a copy of the warranty brochure, have any additional questions, or need to file any additional claims, please contact customer service at 1.800.648.5006. We are available 24/7/365, and we look forward to taking your call. Respectfully, Customer Care Support Team [email protected] America's Preferred Home Warranty
