In recent versions of EndNote, I've encountered three glitches that need fixing. First, when I click "Find Reference Updates", I can Update All Fields and Update Empty Fields, but I can no longer Edit Reference. I can't copy & paste from the online information, and I can't type into my version of the reference. Second, and related, I used to be able to delete a section in my version of the reference and then hit "Update Empty Fields" and continue editing, but now the program closes the whole window. Third, if I'm searching for a reference, I used to be able to type in, say, an author's name, then hit the tab button to get to the next search field. Now, however, the tab button takes me out of the search windows and into the list of references, which is inconvenient. Thanks.

It’s good but I have drop box that opens anytime I open a word document.

This is overall an excellent product. It really works. However, some items that are used frequently are difficult to find in the menus. For example, unformatting citations is done often and it should be located up front as a large button that is easy to find. You seem to focus on correcting elements of the program that are rarely used and do not attend to usual operations challenges.

It would be nice if existing users of the product were queried prior to revisions of the product to see whether the inclusion or removal of a feature is desired. For instance, on older versions of the program, there was a thumbnail of attachments for any particular entry. This made it easy to see the quality of the attachment or whether there were multiple versions of the attachment tied to a particular entry. Another issue is the timeliness of corrections made during program updates. For example, I was one of the first people to download v21 of the program and immediately noted that you were no longer able to paste into the search window using mouse commands as was the case in prior versions (Cntl-V still works.) I immediately reported the issue to technical support. The update to version 21 was just released and the problem still exists. This should have been a straightforward fix, yet it was ignored.

It can be clunky and frustrating sometimes but it works.

I upgraded from several EN versions back. It was a little awkward to get used to EN21, but now that I have, I can appreciate some new features such as its remarkable ability to grab online PDFs without going through the usual hassles. There are a couple of older features that I miss, though: I used to be able to see a quick preview of a new reference in my chosen output format on-screen, without having to write it to an output file. (Maybe I just haven't figured out how to do that yet.) Also, on the Edit page the top toolbar is missing the Greek symbol conversion that used to be there. Also, it would be really helpful to give us a couple of highlight colors like yellow and red in that toolbar!

ENDNOTE can help organize thousands of references and conduct Boolean searches even within PDF files. The ability to FIND FULL TEXT works only about 50% of the time. There is no AI option to summarize content in one or more PDF files. CiteWhileYouWrite works ok with WORD, but annoying "bugs" exist.
