Borderline ransomware marketing techniques
I have been using passpack 7 for years. Today I tried accessing it, and they said they discontinued v7, and that the only way to get my passwords back is to pay them 100$ I've seriously googled around to see if they hadn't been hacked or something (as there was no traces of their decommissioning it on their Twitter, I hav enever received one email about it, etc.) so I sent an email to customer service to know more. They basically replied that it was my fault for not seeing their warning somewhere on the login page (because of course, a login page, you always read the page) and I should cough up the 100$ if I want access to my credentials again...

Hello Henri, to clarify we worked hard at communicating the closure of V7. The notice was put up March 17 next to the login of the desktop & mobile version of the application with and without the remember-me function. This stated customers had three months to export their data. Also, Passpack V7 did not require customers to record their email address. At the close of that period i.e. June 17th 2023, with the app going offline, in order to re-open on specific customer requests involved additional work and cost that we needed to partly recover, hence the need for the fee.
