This has nothing to do with the…
This has nothing to do with the employees, it’s just something I need to get of my chest I’ve been thinking a lot about it. I’m hoping this will reach someone in upper management that will consider on making some changes and the 1 star has nothing to do with the store. I’m hoping people will take the time to read it. It’s just something on how I feel.
I keep thinking about something someone told me recently. She had just had her baby and was returning to work, and she told me that the company doesn’t provide maternity leave. She had to use her PTO instead.
I understand that a company may not be legally required to provide maternity leave. But just because something isn’t legally required doesn’t mean we shouldn’t ask whether it’s the right thing to do.
Put yourself in the mother’s shoes for a moment.
You’ve just carried a child for nine months. Your body has gone through something enormous. You’re recovering from childbirth while learning how to care for a newborn who needs you around the clock. You’re probably exhausted, overwhelmed, and experiencing one of the biggest changes your life will ever bring.
And at the same time, you still have bills.
In fact, this may be one of the times in your life when you need your income the most. There are new expenses, medical costs, diapers, formula, baby supplies, and countless other things that come with bringing a child into the world. Yet instead of having some financial support during that period, you’re told that if you want to stay home and recover, you need to use the vacation and personal time you’ve accumulated.
To me, that’s the part that doesn’t sit right.
PTO is supposed to give an employee some flexibility when they need time off. It’s for vacations, family emergencies, illness, appointments, and life’s unexpected moments. Childbirth isn’t a vacation. It isn’t an extended weekend. And becoming a mother isn’t something that should force a woman to empty her PTO bank just to have the opportunity to recover and spend those first precious weeks with her newborn.
I’m not saying businesses don’t have expenses or that providing paid maternity leave is easy. I understand that companies have to consider their finances, staffing, and ability to remain successful.
But I do believe we should ask ourselves what it means to truly support the people who work for us.
Because an employee isn’t only an employee. She’s a person. She’s someone’s daughter, someone’s wife or partner, and now she’s a mother. And when she is going through one of the most physically and emotionally demanding experiences of her life, that is when support can mean the most.
Imagine how different it would feel for a new mother to hear, “Don’t worry about your paycheck right now. Take care of yourself. Take care of your baby. We’ll be here when you’re ready to come back.”
That’s more than a benefit.
That’s humanity.
And I believe companies have an opportunity to show their employees that they are valued not only for what they contribute to the company, but for who they are outside of it.
No mother should have to feel that choosing to recover from childbirth and care for her newborn is financially putting her family at risk.

Horrible incompetent customer service
My email was incorrectly put on a customer account who shops there. I called and they refuse to remove my email. Manager was awful. Apparently thinks it’s my job to spend hours fixing this. Told me I had to call customer service because he cannot because it’s my account. I kept reminding him it’s not Mr account either! It’s not my fault they incorrectly typed in a customer’s email and now I keep getting all their receipts! I broke down and called customer service and they cannot delete my email because it’s not my profile. This is some ring of hell that the company will not fix. I keep getting emails and they will do nothing to correct it. I have never shopped with them. I don’t want emails from them and they will not fix it. The manager should be filed. He has no customer service skills.

I spent 100 dollars on a pair of shoes…
I spent 100 dollars on a pair of shoes and earned two ten dollar rewards. I purchased two pairs of shoes and used the rewards but had to cancel the order. They wouldn’t give me my shoe perks rewards back after order cancellation saying that they were forfeited after use. I would not recommend shopping at this store. Go to rack rooms. That has never happened to me before anywhere else. Horrible experience.

No Ethics, Integrity or Values with This Horrible Company
This place is horrible. I ordered a pair of shoes that arrived quickly. However, the shoes were not new and they were not even in the original packaging. They were obviously worn by someone else and did not fit properly because of a manufacturing defect where there was a lump in the shoe by the toes. I find out now that I need to pay them a return fee even though the shoes were both worn and defective. I have no patience for companies that try to pass off defective, worn products as new and then charge you to return them. Shoe Station is obviously run by people with no ethics, integrity or values

Purchased a $70 pair of kids Jordans…
Purchased a $70 pair of kids Jordans shoes. Daughter wore them one time and the Velcro loops that hold Velcro together all came undone, within three days of purchase brought them back to exchange out for another pair of shoes and staff refused to exchange them said that they have been worn. I said yes they have been worn, however there’s clearly a defect of the Velcro. She wore them one time I bought them three days ago. Staff then said that, that is just the way Velcro is, I said after a few hours of indoor wear? I asked for the manager two of the women working Caitlin and Krystal then proceeded to give me a number that did not work It was disconnected. when I told them the number didn’t work they Said, too bad that’s the number that we have. I then asked them again to speak with a manager. They said we are the managers. I said you must have somebody above you. They said yes his name is Paul. I asked for his number they said they couldn’t give out his number, i said does he have an extension I can call and leave a message they said no. I said OK, When does he work next they refused, and told me we can’t give out his schedule. I said OK well is he going to be there tomorrow? They said We can’t tell you that. They then proceeded to mock me when I thought that Jordan‘s were a separate brand from Nike and they said no Jordans are Nike. I said OK and then before I left the store they said go ahead call Jordans. I said I thought you said it was Nike and they mocked me. I feel like when you pay $70 for a pair of kids shoes the Velcro should not come undone in one day when the shoes look brand new still and you couldn’t even really tell they were worn at all. I went online and found a phone number for customer service and talked to somebody from corporate and am trying to work it out now. if this is acceptable treatment of customers and quality of product I will never purchase another pair of shoes again from shoe station at Rohan’s in Wausau again. I was extremely dissatisfied actually even sickened by the way, the staff handled it and then trying to tell me that Velcro is supposed to come apart within a day. I would also like to note that I just wanted to return the defective shoes and exchange for a different pair not even cash back.
