Poor Customer Service If Things Go Wrong

I use several of the big hotel sites (Expedia, hotels.com etc) to book travel for work fairly regularly, I've rarely had problems but have found hotels.com to be excellent at fixing them on the two occasions I have had problems. I recently had a bad experience with tablet, terrible hotel, far below the standard of hotels they claim to 'carefully curate'. I complained to them and instead of a decent response was sent an email saying how good their review system is and inviting me to make another booking with them and get some tiny additional perk. I'm really disappointed that their customer service is so much worse than hotels.com when they claim to be offering a higher quality experience.

We first heard from you about your disappointment with the hotel four days after checkout and you'll get no argument from us, it is hard to fix a bad hotel stay after the fact. Our team is passionate about two things: Customer Service and Travel. We love helping clients plan and book their trips and we hope those trips are truly amazing! However, we know that there may be bumps in the road and when something goes wrong we relish the opportunity to make it better and show you what makes our Travel Specialists so special. We have 29 hotels in Tokyo and our team is here to offer personal recommendations and help you select the right one. And should you ever find yourself in a hotel that's not living up to your standards reach out to us during your stay and we'll make it right. We do hope you'll take us up on our offer because although we can't erase the memory of your stay in Tokyo we can definitely give you something better to look forward to.
