Onboarding process at Welo Data mysteriously failed in an abrupt way after I had given away personal data and spent time answering lots of silly questions and completing ridiculous tasks. Don't waste your precious time.

This company may seem legit. But they seem to be fraudsters. I've tried a couple of applications with them and on the first page (which is demographics for some reason), whenever I hit submit, my application is rejected "says application failed". Don't bother contacting customer support, they never answer. This company, if it is really legit, is very poorly run. Management doesn't seem to realize they have a broken hiring system and terrible UI. It seems they must have a real bias towards certain people, as some do seem to get hired, but others are just left in the dust with no clue on why they where rejected (even before they could finished the application). Shame, Shame, Shame on Welo.

I strongly advise anyone considering opportunities with Welocalize / WeloData (or any of their related platforms) to proceed with caution. I recently applied for the Pegasus – English (Nigerian) Audio Evaluator role (the job offer was sent directly to my email) and went through multiple stages of assessments that were presented as part of a legitimate hiring process. These included timed tests and detailed submissions, including indigenous language and cultural information, which required time, effort, and focus—just like a real exam setting. After successfully completing all assessment stages, I moved on to the final step of submitting my financial details and verifying my government ID through Trulioo—only for my application to suddenly be marked as “Application Failed,” without any clear explanation or proper closure, even after I sent a petition email. I should have done my due diligence by checking reviews about them first. Looking through Trustpilot now and seeing similar complaints, it’s hard to ignore the pattern. What’s even more concerning is the lack of response to these negative reviews, which raises serious questions about accountability. This experience was not only frustrating but disappointing. A significant amount of my time and effort went into completing those assessments under the impression that it was leading to a genuine opportunity. Situations like this make it feel like eager job applicants are being taken advantage of. At the very least, there should be transparency and fairness in a process that demands this much from candidates. Right now, it honestly feels like practices like this should not be allowed to continue unchecked.

I worked on a job for Welo and after spending over 8 hours carefully working on it, I received an email that there were quality issues and that I wouldn't be paid, but they believe in me, review the guidelines and try it again! More free labor? No thank you! Prior to the round beginning, we were told in writing that if there were errors, we would have to correct them, not that we wouldn't be paid at all. Very unhelpful when they don't even tell you what the problem is. This screams scam to me. Free work and they just tell you it is unacceptable without giving reason. Don't waste your time.

Received emails encouraging me to apply for map work. I answered three questions, revealing that I'm a 55 year old male living in California. On that basis, they failed me. So, agism & sexism seem to be rampant in this company.

After taking around 30 hours of courses, and 8 hours exam, they came up with good news that I was approved. But after registering my financial information, they wrote they cannot move forward with my profile due to an unknown reason. This could be checked before the onboarding process to save 40 hours for me, but instead they give you some tasks to do for free and then deactivate your profile.

I was contacted with a role and when I passed all required tests (about 2 hours of my time) I never received any assignments. When I contacted the talent team, I was told there were no tasks available for me. Maybe next time. It feels like I already did the work for them for free. This is a scam and I advise everyone to stay away.
