Thank you so much for this lovely review! We're thrilled to hear that the speed, labels, pinning, and Masked Email are all working so well for you. Being able to use a unique address for every online account is one of our favorite ways to help you keep control over your inbox and your privacy. And we're glad to hear that the spam filter has been doing its job; ideally it's something you never need to think about.
On pricing, we hear you, and we don't take that lightly. Your subscription is what lets us run a reliable, fast email service without advertising to you or selling your data, and it helps us contribute to open standards and add new features. We hope that Fastmail feels worth the price, and we're grateful to have you with us.

7 years and still works like it should
I've been using fastmail for about 7 years now. Its one of the few Sass tools, platforms, service providers that consistently works, that I dont have to spend have my life debugging or online with support. It just works like it is supposed to, hard to believe how rare that has become. I am grateful that something out there still delivers consistently. No bells and whistles just consistent and reliable.

A Technologically Excellent Email Service That Still Makes Me Hesitate
I really want to like Fastmail because, from a technical perspective, the service looks extremely promising. The interface is clean, the app is great, the features are powerful, and things like masked email addresses are genuinely impressive. It feels like a very well-engineered product.
However, I have to admit that I’m quite concerned after reading multiple reports about account lockouts on platforms like Trustpilot and discussions on Reddit. When I was looking for user reviews, I came across these reports quite quickly. Of course, I cannot verify these individual cases, and I don’t know whether they are rare exceptions or more common than they seem. Still, the idea of potentially losing access to your own email account is very unsettling.
This concern is especially serious when using masked email addresses, since many other accounts may depend on that one mailbox. The thought of being locked out and possibly struggling to regain access creates a real sense of insecurity.
I fully understand that providers must prevent abuse and protect their systems from malicious use. At the same time, this also implies that accounts are being monitored in some way, even if only through automated systems, and that alone feels uncomfortable from a privacy perspective. So for me, the decision ultimately comes down to a trade-off between the technical excellence of Fastmail and my remaining privacy concerns, and at this point, I’m still not sure which side outweighs the other.
Technically, Fastmail seems excellent. My hesitation is purely about trust and risk management.
Additionally, having email storage located in Europe (or at least offering an EU-based data storage option) would be very reassuring, especially from a GDPR perspective. For many users, data location and legal jurisdiction are key factors when choosing an email provider.
Greater clarity in these areas would go a long way toward building confidence, because right now, the uncertainty is the biggest barrier for me. That said, I genuinely wish other email providers would offer the same level of technical polish and refinement that Fastmail clearly delivers.

Hi, B.M. Thank you for such a thoughtful and detailed review. Please allow us to share some details and hopefully provide some reassurance.
Accounts are locked for things like sending spam, fraud, or other activity that harms other people on the internet. If an account is ever locked incorrectly, the account holder can contact our support team. We'll ask a few questions to better understand the situation and investigate; if we're wrong, we'll quickly unlock with an apology. We're also transparent about how our staff access to customer data works. Check fastmail.help for "How Fastmail provides a secure service".
We do recommend using a custom domain for your email, so if you ever choose to leave Fastmail, you take your email address with you. You can use Masked Email with your custom domain, so even those Masked Email addresses can go with you wherever you go.
Your concerns about privacy in regard to abuse detection make sense. Every email provider scans emails automatically to catch spam and abuse. If they did not, they'd quickly become unusable and would get blacklisted by other providers for delivering spam.
Regarding data location, expanding our infrastructure to a new region involves significant technical and business considerations. It takes time to evaluate and build out new servers. We don't have any plans to announce at the moment, but please keep an eye on our blog. We'll post an update there should we add a data center in the EU.
We hope this helps clear things up. We recognize that email is the key to your digital life. One of our company's values is being good stewards of your data, and we take keeping your data secure very seriously. We'd love to address any remaining questions or concerns you may have in detail. Feel free to open a support ticket and reference this Trustpilot review, and we'll happily walk through anything that would help you feel more confident about being a Fastmail customer.

Fastmail is simple secure service
Fastmail is a great and reliable service focused on privacy, which I really appreciate. The only downsides for me are the lack of built-in email translation and the apps. Both the mobile and Windows apps are basically just browser versions and don’t add any extra functionality.

User for 10-20 years. Good but maybe overkill for personal use
I prefer to use smaller companies to mega corporations If I can. Fastmail is one such. Been a user for 10-20 years. Product has improved immesurably over that time.
- A lot of features - pretty well anything you might need. Many of these I don't use but some I find invaluable.
- Set up with my own domaine name.
- Customer service is reasonably good - at least it exists, big name don't seem to have.
- Biggest complaint is I can't sync to my Google contacts 😒
Generally I'm very happy with Fastmail. It's a bit pricey now I'm no longer a business user. A free service would be satisfactory but too much hassle to switch.

Love FastMail
Love FastMail, have been using it for more than four years. Feature rich, easy to use; the UI is fast, clean and simple.
My only complain is the lack of native app, loading time is painful on the mobile app.

Needs to work better offline
The only reason I give Fastmail 4 stars and not 5 is that it doesn't work well if you have a patchy internet connection. Gmail allows you to view emails when you are offline. The mobile app is particularly bad at this. I would like to compose emails which will send when I am back in wifi/4G range.

Great for personal use, disposable emails and multiple domains
I'm a power user. I wanted to have disposable emails and multiple domains for a reasonable price. Fastmail is it. If you use the catchall, you can create an email for each service you sign up for i.e. [servicename]@[yourdomain].com. Fantastic. I have caught a few vendors selling or losing control of their data.
A lot of negative reviews here seems to either not understand password security or are trying to send spam.
I lowered the service by 1 star as their Android app is a bit clunky. I get that it is a web interface first service but there are bugs from time to time and it does not have offline functionality. A real pain when connectivity is spotty. If you want to use this for your business, you should either use a standard IMAP client (i.e. not their web interface or mobile app)
