Hi Guillermo, fair question. We found your details through a data provider, because your background matched roles at a startup we are recruiting for.
For context, most of the startups we work with are small teams without recruiters, so we reach out to people who fit their roles. It’s free for candidates; companies pay us only when they hire.
But you never signed up, so you have every right to see exactly what we hold and have it deleted. Email [email protected] from the address we contacted and within days we’ll send you a copy, delete it, and stop all contact.

Unsolicited recruitment outreach impersonating a personal conversation with a co-founder
I had never registered for Clera, created an account, or provided the company my resume.
Nevertheless, I received unsolicited recruitment emails from sebastian.scott @ cleracontext.com, signed under Sebastian Scott's name as co-founder of Clera.
The correspondence appeared to be a personal recruitment conversation. After I replied, I received assurances about job matches and preferences. When I explicitly asked whether I was communicating with Sebastian personally or an AI assistant, the response admitted that it was Clera's AI agent, not Sebastian.
This was not clearly disclosed in the initial emails I received.
I am deeply concerned about this lack of transparency, particularly when recruiting messages encourage job seekers to share professional and personal information.
I also have questions about how Clera obtained my university email address and what information it has collected, generated or retained about me without my having registered.
I have instructed the company to stop contacting me and am pursuing a formal California privacy complaint.
I cannot verify the legitimacy of individual job listings, but the unsolicited outreach and undisclosed AI identity in my own correspondence are documented. I recommend that other job seekers exercise caution before providing additional information.

Unsolicited Emails and Data Privacy Concerns
I recently received an unsolicited email from Clera’s AI assistant regarding job opportunities, despite never having signed up, provided my CV, or interacted with this company. It seems they are sourcing private email addresses from third-party platforms without prior consent.
When I replied to ask how they obtained my personal data and raised data privacy concerns, the AI bot deflected the question, stating it wasn't equipped to discuss compliance and would pass it on to their team. There appears to be very little transparency regarding their data collection methods.
Based on my experience and similar reviews, I highly recommend being cautious. The platform seems to rely on scraping data to send cold emails, which raises serious questions about their data privacy practices and how they handle GDPR compliance for EU citizens.
My advice: Think twice before clicking on their dashboard links and consider marking the emails as spam if you never opted in.

Unsolicited AI outreach, scraped LinkedIn data, and silence until legal action was mentioned
I want to share my full experience with Clera in detail, because I think job seekers deserve to know how this platform operates behind the scenes.
The unsolicited email :
It started when I received an email completely out of the blue from someone named Sebastian regarding a job opportunity. As a job seeker actively looking for roles, I did what most people in my position would do — I responded. It quickly became apparent that I was not corresponding with a person at all: the replies were clearly AI-generated. That alone might have been acceptable as a first touchpoint, but what followed was not.
Where did they get my data?
When I asked where they had obtained my information, I was told it came from LinkedIn. I had never signed up to Clera, never created an account, and never consented to being contacted. My details had evidently been scraped or pulled from a third-party platform and used to reach out to me and build a profile about me.
A profile created without my knowledge or consent
While waiting for a human to get in touch, I discovered that a profile had already been created for me on Clera. It included all of my details — including my photo taken from LinkedIn. To be clear: someone I had never heard of had assembled a profile of me, with my photograph, without asking, without informing me, and without my consent. This is a serious data protection concern, and I was genuinely uneasy about how my personal information was being collected and used.
Ghosted:
I was told a member of the team would reach out within 2–3 working days to arrange an appointment. I asked for an earlier slot and was told to wait. So I waited. I told myself that when a human finally contacted me, I would ask them directly about this practice of extracting data from platforms like LinkedIn. But that message never came. After a week or two of silence, I reached out and asked them to delete my data. I received no response at all. I felt completely ghosted.
Only legal action got a response :
Two weeks later, I contacted them again — this time demanding that they take down and delete my data, which had been taken without my permission, or I would take legal action. Only then did I promptly hear back from Alexander Farr, the co-founder, who apologised for the experience, confirmed my data would be deleted, and stated they would not contact me again. I appreciate the eventual response, but it should never have taken the threat of legal action to get one.
My overall impression :
This experience was not good. I was left feeling like I was being used for data modelling and AI training rather than being genuinely helped as a job seeker. To be fair, I'm an IT professional and I work with AI myself — I'm not a technophobe, and I understand how these systems function. That's exactly why I can say this crosses a line. My privacy was invaded, and I consider this an abuse of data.
If you're a job seeker whose data lives on LinkedIn, ask yourself how you'd feel about a company you never signed up to assembling a profile of you — complete with your photo — and then going silent until you mention lawyers. I cannot recommend this platform, and I'd encourage anyone contacted by them to ask hard questions about where their data came from and how it's being used.

Received a cold email
Received a cold email, disguising as a follow up email.
I just posted my resume on workintexas.com. I didn't apply to a job that it's referring to as I'm just starting my job search.
100% this company is a scam.
I was emailed from: lisa at getblona.com and the following LinkedIn link was included in the email: linkedin /company/getclera/
Response from Clera· Oct 24, 2026
Hi James, sorry about this. The email came from getblona, one of our outreach domains, and calling it a “follow-up” was wrong when you’d never heard from us before.
Some context on why we reach out at all: the 600+ startups we recruit for are mostly small teams without recruiters, so we find people whose background fits and tell them about the roles. It’s free for candidates; companies pay us only when they hire.
But that only works if the first email is honest about who we are, and this one wasn’t. Email [email protected] from the address we wrote to and we’ll stop all contact and delete your data.
