Cold emails from AI-agent pretend to be recruiter
I received an email from someone named Daniel. It partially looked like a recruiter reaching me out, but the content was not clear – no details on the role or company, just a question if I want to know who's interested in my profile. There also was an option to reply with a keyword to stop further emails. It was sent to the mailbox I don't use for professional purposes, so I didn't even notice it until they pinged me twice. AI clearly wrote the text, which generally is okay, just needs some polishing and more context to make a person look deep into it and not perceive it as spam. But I became really pissed off when I started communicating with it and received a link to the platform. Why would you use my LinkedIn profile picture and details on my location and work experience without my explicit permission? I never signed up on this platform, I never saw any terms and conditions about how it operates, how my personal data is collected and stored. I'm not sure if everything of it is actually legal, even if it is, I feel exposed and not comfortable to have any further interactions. They say that the data is collected the same way companies usually collect it for recruitment processes. But it's not as if I can get any data on me by the link outside of the corporate network – it's just not safe.
