legitimate, but their free 7x7 is fake
Their website is legitimate & you can see past sale prices on art with descriptions just as advertised, but their 7 day or 7 views being free isn't real. As soon as you pay for the subscription they charge you, which I get b/c your accessing their database, which isn't free. If you want to see past sale prices you must pay for the $47 full access subscription & not the $28 subscription. They wouldn't get bad reviews if they just allowed you to pay a one time fee for the item you want to see.

Hello Chris,
Thank you for your review. We appreciate your feedback and we would love to help improve your experience.
Our free trial includes 7 lookups or 7 days, whichever comes first. From the sound of it, we aren’t 100% sure if you selected the Price Guide Premium, which is 28.99 monthly, or if you selected M.A.P.S. (Marks, Autographs, Patterns, and Symbols) and Library features. The Marks and Library subscription, which is 27.99, provides strictly research and no pricing. The Price Guide Premium package provides the sales price data.
We’re happy to assist and dig deeper into the case for you, please feel free to contact us at the information below.
Thanks,

Read the small print. You need the most expensive option.
First of all, let me start by saying that I have not searched the value of any item on Worthpoint, but I have spent a lot of time on their website.
I was drawn to Worthpoint after a google search came up with a photo from Worthpoint's site of an item I owned. I wanted to know how much it was worth. I often do this type of Google price search - probably around 8 times a year.
The dilemma I had was whether the Worthpoint service is going to be worth the annual subscription fee of $187.55, $256.99, or $439.99. The good news is that they have a free trial of a maximum of 7 lookups, or 7 days.
A free trial is always useful as it allows you to assess whether the service will be useful enough to make it worth paying the subscription. Another positive point.
If you pass the 7th item you can click "Accept" to be automatically charged immediately. If you take no action, you will be charged after the 7 day trial has ended. I give them a positive point for explaining this clearly.
When I see sites which say "We will charge you if you don't cancel", I usually stay away, because I know from experience, I often forget to try it, or end up not having enough time to explore, - so I get charged for something I never had time to test or simply forgot to use. That's my first negative point.
The next question is "Could it be worth it?". For looking up a few prices each year, I found the cheapest service ($187.55) to be a little expensive. It would be a no-brainer at $120. So on price they get a "Pass", at least for the cheapest option. Perhaps I would try it at the higher level, but less sure about whether I would continue.
I then read some of the reviews here, and then went back to the website. It seems that if you pay for the cheapest service, you only get to know the price of the item but you do not get to see the photo(s). That's no good at all, unless I am pricing a very generic item like an iPhone. Without pictures the guide would be useless especially if you are looking at prices of original paintings or other fairly unique items. I need to visually compare the images. That's a negative point.
Worthpoint do not make that sufficiently clear to potential subscribers.
I accept that if you carefully read the terms of EACH offer you could DEDUCE that the cheapest offer does not include pictures, but it is NOT stated in the cheapest offer. That is DECEPTIVE in my opinion. A negative point.
In simple terms, if you want both price AND picture, you have to pay for the most expensive service ($439) per annum. That's the service I need.
Lastly I read many of the reviews here on Trustpilot. Many of the reviews were negative because people claimed not to know that they would be charged after 7 days or after seeing 7 prices (warning, that could be 7 prices for a single item!). They are being unfair to Worthpoint. They didn't take the time to read the terms of service. On the other hand, the world is full of people, who are incapable of understanding words like "You will be charged if you do not cancel". and even more full of people, like me, who simply forget to "try" during the trial period. Worthpoint are taking advantage of people like that.
It's like walking into McDonalds where there is a sign on the door saying "If you don't buy something within 5 minutes, we'll charge you for a Big-Mac, whether you like them or not". It feels scammy.
Lastly, on reading all the comments here I give Worthpoint positive points for, firstly, responding to many of the comments, and, secondly, for giving refunds to unhappy customers, despite those refunds not being justified by the terms of service. (Positive point).
In conclusion, I decided not to use the free trial. $439.99 is a lot of money. I don't want to take the risk that I just won't have enough time to fully test it in that period. (I have a job, children, and other things to do), If it was an "opt-in" service, where you only get charged if you opt-in to continue, then I would have given it a go, but the "We will automatically charge you after 7 days, whether you had time to try us out or not" clause, coupled with the high price, ($439.99 if you want to see both prices AND pictures), means that Worthpoint is missing out on me, - a seriously interested potential customer. Obviously that kind of *opt-in* business model doesn't work for them. They would far rather have loads of people paying due to forgetfulness, knowing that most of them will never complain, a bit like the deal you would expect from a porn website.

Hello Clive,
Thank you for your review and input. We appreciate your honest feedback and recognition of our explanation of the free trial, which is 7 lookups or 7 days, whichever comes first. It sounds like you have reservations about trying WorthPoint and we appreciate your concern. We contacted Worthpoint after finding…
We contacted Worthpoint after finding them on the internet, with some questions about some collectables we have. Karm answered the phone and was able to answer every question we had. She explained herself very well. And was very informative. I was very impressed with her, and very grateful. She's a valuable employee. Nowadays, more and more people have no pride in their jobs. They don't care and don't want to be bothered. It's hard to find good employees anymore. So I am very thankful that Karm took my call.

Very Helpful
I was locked out of my account for trying too many times. I called and they were very helpful and got my password reset. I had just signed up a week ago and hadn’t been able to sign in. They refunded my money and resigned me up. I only use my account occasionally and cancel it between times when I need it. I can normally find what I’m looking for on Worthpoint.

Poor Website - Great Support - Goofy Trial
UPDATE!
I called the support number and spoke to a very informed representative. She explained that they never got my billing info. And I only have an account I can log in with. Now she answered the phone almost immediately and ensured me that they would not slip me into a paid account without my OK.
So what is the problem?
Perception:
The website doesn't send out an email confirmation. Or It only sends out an email 5 hours later.
This leaves you wondering ift you made an account or not.
It also imposes a username instead of using your email address. So if you close the tab or page without taking on the Username info or Remembering the password you used, when you return you're out of luck. No email conf. You just gave payment info. You don't know your username or password.
Perception:
They are a rip-off, this does not work like all the other sites I use. Something is wrong.
Truth:
The company is probably good, I know the support is excellent, but the web developers are dropping the ball. The developers are have made this site in a way that induces uncertainty and fear. They need to fix up the site.
Just Now - Customer Support Saved this Company!

Bad offering a trial and then not allowing the user to cancel until the free trial is over. Therefore making the trial not free.
They don't give you prices until you actually pay $23 or something after the trial ends - I used PayPal and I will take it to PayPal and refuse payment.
The instructions are invalid. This is a scam. Do not give them any of your info.
What makes me mad is the time I have to waste playing a game with such a silly website. I am a valuable asset to any operation I undertake and I feel they should pay me for my time. $125 should cover it.
How to Cancel my Account
Answer
Go to (a web address)
Sign in to your account using your user name and password.
Select "My Worthpoint" (top right-hand side of the page).
Select My Account.
Select Subscription Settings (left hand side of the page), scroll down, and the red cancel button is at the bottom of the page.
!!! There is no Red Cancel Button!!!
What do you bet the button shows up after they take your money?
So they have an email and a phone number, but I don't have time to play this stupid game and then watch to see if the elect to release me from this scam.
If you have difficulties, please contact us at support at worthpoint.com or call 1.877.481.5750.
