About these reviews
Reviews are shown as their authors wrote them. The company can reply, but cannot edit them.
The score is the plain average of the published reviews on this page.
They don't reply emails. Sending a contact form is also useless. This company seems to run in auto-pilot without customer support. Also, the platform only accepts US phones, and for people from abroad, about to move to the USA, this is a problem. Y had to reach the therapist using public contact information, and explain my situation so he ended up calling to my non-us phone.

Hi Sebastian,
Thank you for sharing your experience, and I’m really sorry for the frustration you went through—that’s not the experience we want anyone to have.
After speaking with you, we were able to confirm that your messages were unfortunately not received on our end, which explains the lack of response you experienced. We understand how frustrating that must have been, especially while trying to coordinate something important.
We also appreciate you taking the extra steps to reach your therapist directly, and we’re glad to hear you were ultimately able to connect and move forward.
Your feedback regarding international phone access is very valuable, and we’ve shared it with our team as we continue working to improve accessibility for all clients.
If there’s anything else we can assist you with, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re here to help.
Best,
ESAPet Team

It all went very quick, but was not thorough
It all went very quick, but I never got a call to have a session with my therapist so my landlord is asking for a different letter from another healthcare professional that I have a relationship with. I paid for the extra documentation and everything and I am just waiting for my denial letter at this time.

Hi Serena,
We’re very sorry to hear about your experience. This is not the level of service we aim to provide at ESAPet. We’ve already reassigned your case to another licensed therapist so the process can be completed properly, but it seems we haven’t received a response from you yet.
If you still need assistance or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly at [email protected]
— we’re happy to help get this resolved for you as quickly as possible.
Warm regards,

I requested a letter and I got an appointment within the day. Once the letter came, I gave it to my landlord. They did not accept it and questioned the validity of this service. Because they questioned the validity of ESAPet, they sent an additional form. In their rejection of the letter, they cited the spelling errors on the letter, the company branding on the letter, and they were unable to connect with the psychologist when reaching out.
I followed up with the psychologist to fix the letter’s mistakes. She did not fix all of the errors, and left the company heading on the letter. ESAPet requested $79 more in order to fill out the additional form.
To be clear, the building management said that the letter was INVALID. But it says on the website “full refund if your letter doesn’t work.” So I requested a refund. Initially they said no, but then they finally gave me a partial refund (about half).
With all of that being said, when I submitted a letter from my personal therapist, my building management accepted it immediately. They did not request additional forms, because they deemed the letter valid. I would recommend just using your own therapist, don’t use ESAPet.

Hi Spencer,
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re truly sorry to hear that you felt disappointed with the process. We want to clarify a couple of points for transparency.
As stated during checkout, if a housing provider requests additional forms, confirmations, or direct communication after the ESA letter has already been issued, there is a separate $59 fee. This covers the therapist’s time to review and complete those additional requirements, and it applies to all clients who need this service.
Your ESA letter itself was valid and not denied. What your landlord requested was additional documentation, which is outside of the standard letter and why that service was offered to you.
That said, we’re sorry this left you feeling unsatisfied and we understand your frustration. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us continue improving the clarity of our process.
Sincerely,
The ESAPet Team

Basing this review on the likeliness of…
Basing this review on the likeliness of using their services again. I was approved for an ESA letter, which is great. The provider I met with was very thorough, kind and engaged. I felt caught off guard by some of the religious/Christian feedback in the interview, which seemed off topic for an ESA eval, and doesn't match my experience. It was a long meeting, and if I had known ahead that I'd be getting religious perspectives, I may have tried another route for the ESA, maybe more aligned with my goals and beliefs (or lack thereof haha). The interview left me feeling pretty tired and rattled after talking about in depth trauma history etc. Ultimately a learning lesson and a useful experience, but I'm unlikely to use them again because I felt unprepared for the religious aspects. I'm skeptical of organized religion in general - that churches find vulnerabilities in people, make them feel special and seen, and then sells people on an idea or a promise - and I couldn't help but feel skeptical that my own history was an attempt at persuasion based on my personal details. Just not what I expected for an ESA meeting, but appreciative for the service

Hi Jess,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re truly sorry to hear that aspects of your session left you feeling uncomfortable.
At ESAPet, we are committed to providing a respectful, neutral, and inclusive environment for every person we serve. Your evaluation should have been focused solely on your eligibility for an ESA letter, and we sincerely regret that this standard was not upheld during your appointment.
We are taking this feedback seriously and have already addressed it with our team. We truly appreciate you helping us grow through your honest review.
Wishing you all the best,
The ESAPet Team

This was the second year I have used this service. The first year I had a good experience and was impressed/pleased. After my experience renewing this year I was very unimpressed and will not be using this service again. When I used the service last year for my initial letter the therapist was very thorough asking questions and following up multiple times via email which made me feel that the service was genuine and gave me confidence in using it. The email communication was also nice due to my anxiety towards phone conversations and personal schedule. The letter was also provided on an official letter head document from the therapists office. When it came time to renew I requested and paid over one month in advance as I was getting ready to move and wanted to ensure I had my renewal letter in time but I did not hear from anyone for weeks. I continued to get automated email reminders to renew my letter before it expired in this time. About 3 weeks after paying for and requesting my renewal I reached out via the websites “contact us” portal but never got a response. I also indicated that one of my pets had passed away since I submitted my request and I needed to update the info for the letter (and hopefully get a partial refund). Since I still had not been contacted in any form I then approx 1 week later responded to one of the automated renewal emails I kept getting asking for an update on my letter. A representative emailed me back saying she had spoke to my assigned therapist who claimed they had tried to contact me via phone multiple times but had not been able to reach me. I responded letting them know I only had 2 missed calls on my cell phone in the time frame since I submitted my renewal request, both from different numbers and no voicemails so I asked her to confirm my phone number with the therapist and told her my availability for a phone call. I still never heard from a therapist but I did get an email saying that my letter had been approved. I checked the letter and it was not the same therapist as my first letter and was submitted on an unprofessional basic document with the ESApet.com logo. This makes it look not legitimate and seems like it should be illegal since I never actually spoke to the therapist. It also still reflects my deceased pet. And I continued to get renewal reminders via email up until the expiration date of my original letter. Very displeased to say the least.

Dear Reviewer,
I’m truly sorry to hear about your disappointing renewal experience, and I sincerely appreciate you sharing your feedback. Your concerns are completely valid, and I want to address them directly.
First, I apologize for the lack of timely communication. We understand how important your ESA letter is, especially during a move, and you should never have had to wait weeks for a response. The automated reminders without proper follow-up are something we are actively working to improve.
Regarding therapist contact attempts, our therapists are required to make multiple attempts via phone and email, and they are instructed to leave voicemails or text messages if they do not reach the client. However, I completely understand that phone calls may not have been the best method for you.
I also want to clarify that each ESA letter can include up to two pets at no additional cost, and I sincerely regret that your pet’s passing was not updated in your renewal. If you’d like an updated letter, please reach out to us, and we’ll make the correction for you right away.
As for the letter format, we have transitioned away from ESA Pet letterhead. However, all letters are issued by licensed therapists, who are required to include their own credentials and contact information to ensure legitimacy.
We value your trust in our service and regret that your renewal experience did not meet expectations. If you’re open to it, I’d love to personally assist in correcting your letter and ensuring that your experience moving forward is nothing short of excellent. Please feel free to contact us at [email protected] so we can make this right.
Best,
ESAPet
