GoodLeaf kept changing their story, charged my card early, then terminated my service
I opened my GoodLeaf account on August 22, 2026 and paid $114.99. I started receiving service around August 23, but starting September 1 I could not access my VPS. GoodLeaf had already posted that they were having issues with Path Networks, and support also told me directly that the issue was coming from Path Networks. They offered to migrate my server and told me my files and data would be fine. I was later told the migration was successful. Then I opened another ticket about GoodLeaf automatically charging my card another $99 only about 12 days after I started service and around 18 days before my next payment was actually due. That is when, in my opinion, the whole tone changed. The same person who was involved in both tickets appeared to be either the owner or someone in upper management, and it was very clear to me that he was in his feelings over the billing dispute instead of just handling the situation professionally. After I questioned the unauthorized early charge, I was suddenly told that my connection problem had nothing to do with Path Networks and that I simply had not whitelisted myself properly. He even started commenting about my connection ticket inside my billing ticket until I requested he stay in the other ticket with any additional details. Anyway, I personally do not believe that explanation. It directly contradicted what I had already been told about Path Networks and what GoodLeaf had posted themselves. Plus, I whitelisted myself properly, which is why I was able to use the service from the 23rd of August to the 1st of September. Then after already being told that my server migration was successful, I was later told that the migration had failed and asked if I had a backup of my data. Because of the timing, I honestly believe the sudden claims about me not whitelisting properly and the migration supposedly failing were connected to the billing dispute I had opened. I cannot prove what was going through anyone’s mind, but that is how the situation looked to me based on the sequence of events and the changing explanations. On the billing side, I was told they invoice 19 days early and that early invoicing was optional. My issue was not getting an invoice early. My issue was them automatically taking another $99 from my card that early without my authorization. I hadn't even seen if the service was what I wantedd being it had been down multiple days already. When I revoked authorization for GoodLeaf to keep automatically charging my payment method, I was told they would have to terminate my service. I never asked them to terminate my service. After they terminated it, I was then told it was terminated “as per your request.” The customer service from the person handling both tickets was horrible and very unprofessional in my opinion. He came across as emotional, defensive, and combative instead of actually trying to resolve the problem. I have screenshots of the full conversations from every ticket, not just individual messages. I also have the outage notice, invoices, charges, migration messages, billing conversations, and termination messages. I have the receipts for everything I am saying. If GoodLeaf believes anything in this review is wrong, they are welcome to point out exactly what they claim is false and provide the full ticket or billing record showing otherwise. If anyone else has similar issues, save everything and report legitimate complaints to the FTC, New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs, your state consumer protection office, and your bank or card issuer. Based on my experience, I would not recommend GoodLeaf. They are very unprofessional. This could have been peaceful, but I have time today.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We want to clarify several points because portions of this review do not accurately reflect our records or the circumstances surrounding the account. The connectivity issue referenced in this review was investigated by our team. While GoodLeaf did experience a separate issue involving one of our network providers during this general timeframe, that does not mean every connectivity issue experienced by every customer was caused by that provider. After further troubleshooting, we identified configuration and access-related issues specific to this service and communicated those findings through the support tickets. Regarding the migration, our team attempted to assist with moving the service as part of troubleshooting. Unfortunately, the migration did not ultimately complete successfully. We understand the frustration caused by conflicting updates during that process, and we acknowledge that communication surrounding the migration could have been clearer. Regarding billing, our system generates invoices in advance according to the billing schedule associated with the service. Automatic payments are processed when automatic payment authorization is enabled on the account. We strongly dispute the characterization that GoodLeaf intentionally made an "unauthorized" charge. The customer's billing concerns were addressed through the support system and the applicable account and payment settings were explained. When the customer advised us that GoodLeaf was no longer authorized to automatically process the payment method associated with the service, we explained the options available under our billing policies. The service was subsequently terminated following that discussion. This was not retaliation for questioning a charge or opening a billing ticket. We also strongly reject the suggestion that technical decisions, migration results, or account actions were deliberately manipulated because the customer raised a billing dispute. Those allegations are speculation and are not supported by our records. We recognize that the customer was dissatisfied with both the technical and billing experience, and we regret that the interaction reached this point. However, we believe it is important that readers distinguish between documented events and assumptions regarding the motives of our staff. GoodLeaf maintains records of the relevant support tickets, billing activity, and account history and stands behind the factual information provided through our support system.
