Had to cancel my initial order as the IP assigned to my first VPS had already been flagged by Google as belonging to a deceptive site and support was unable to just change the IP. Cancelling was easy and I didn't have to jump through any additional hoops to request as refund as the option was presented immediately upon cancellation request. My second order was processed even more quickly than the first and went much better than the first. No complaints with the services so far.

Do not be surprised if money is taken from your credit card without notice, and do not trust all their "deals" with all "small print"....

Like a lot of people that have posted recently an issue with this company. I too was affected by their facility outage that left me with no emails and websites for 5 days or so. I have never experienced anything like this from a hosting company. I have experienced server crash/hardware failure before with other companies but everything has been back working within 24 hours. Hostwinds took a long time to fix their issue and during this time all emails sent to my addresses bounced back with an error and someone trying to access my websites got a time out message. Even after they "fixed" their issues, my emails were bouncing back to people who sent them to me with errors. Like others have said, they lost all the emails stored on their servers and email filters configurations that I had setup. I wouldn't trust this company with anything that is important. Also, they mention "We're so confident that your service will always be online, we offer a 99.9999% Uptime Guarantee." but it means nothing. They will only give you a credit for a day that the service is down (only if you ask for it) and you cannot use this guarantee to terminate your account and get a prorated refund.

After many days of tortuous, runaround from another company, (whose product was never going to do what its ill-informed salespeople assured me it would do, and what I thought I had paid for) I cut my losses and moved on to try Hostwinds. Hostwinds had been recommended to me for helpfulness and practical can-do, but I was still anxious that this would be another waste of time and money. So I asked a hundred anxious questions of their articulate, knowledgeable help desk personnel before committing myself. All the agents I spoke to were realistic, patient, helpful, informative. In the end I purchased the product. I was up and running in under an hour. No glitches, no struggle, no disappointments. Beautiful. Their server appears to be fast, smooth, stable, reliable; simple remote access; excellent price. "Does exactly what it says on the tin."
