When I bought my thin optics they advertised lifetime replacement warranty. They broke and now they say the warranty no longer applies. Buy some cheaper ones and forget about the thin optics warranty. It is a lie.

Lifetime guarantee retroactively repealed. I have written guarantees for marketing campaigns myself. It is pretty straight forward to calculate how much benefit and how much it will cost. The fact that they have repealed the guarantee implies either incompetence in doing the math, or a cynical lack of ethics.

They gave me a lifetime warranty and then after the first replacement they say the lifetime warranty was on the first pair only. The product is of poor quality and so is their warranty and customer service as well. They do not care about you, just your $$$$$

The idea is great but the product isn't. The warranty use to be great and the glasses would normally last at least 6 months, so you could get Free replacements for a $5 shipping fee. They now changed that and you can only get 1 free replacement, so if you are fine paying $20 every 6 months or so for the product you'll be happy.

I have been a ThinOptics customer from the beginning. I have had constant issues with their product breaking. First the bridge frames and then the nose pieces. I normally get anywhere from 2-6 months out of a pair before they break. Originally they were great about the lifetime warranty that came with them and they would replace them. Then they started charging $5 for shipping. Now I was advised that I received my last replacement glasses because they changed the lifetime guarantee. I can’t tell you how many referrals I have given these of the years and raved about the customer service. Obviously they have either sold out or corporate greed has taken over because somehow you can take away a lifetime warranty after selling it with your product. Not sure how that works, but just like the other disappointed customers it’s sad they this seems to be the trend. I would look for an alternative, the quality is poor, obviously if something only last a couple of months it should come with a warranty. The last pair I received didn’t make the two month mark before the nose piece broke, again.

Think a false advertisement, or worse, is in the works at Thin Optics. They have been selling Thin Optics readers to the public since at least ~2016 with a "Lifetime Replacement Guarantee." I have been a customer and have been receiving replacements when requested until October, 2020 wherein they are now declining their promised "Lifetime Replacement Guarantee." Their readers scratch easily. They are made of cheap, thin plastic. They break easily at the nose bridge. The only reason any reasonable person would buy them is ease of use coupled with their "Lifetime Replacement Guarantee." Just Google one of many advertisements by Thin Optics promising "Lifetime Replacement Guarantee. This review site doesn't allow links, which are many. And as advertised on Amazon, Google the same. Which they now disingenuously and arbitrarily decline! Don't buy. You will be disappointed if you're like me.

Thinoptics has failed to honor its original lifetime replacement guarantee. Bait and switch it appears.

Edit: company has reached out to me and we’ve had a positive back and forth. I’m adding some stars in anticipation of a more positive outcome. Should that happen, and I expect it will, I will make this a 5 star review and change the narrative. I second many of the reviews here that express anger or dismay over the random changing of the original warranty promises. A customer since 2017 I was offered a lifetime replacement warranty for loss or damage. After suffering through scratches on my nose from the flimsy nose guards falling off consistently the first couple of years i was at least happy I could get replacements to limit said suffering. I had to navigate and argue at times but ThinOptics eventually sent replacements as needed. Then they arbitrarily stopped the replacements for a brief time. I guess too many people complained and they started replacing again but this time adding a $5 shipping fee for each replacement. Again assumingely based on complaints they “grandfathered” original customers who didn’t have to pay shipping. This lasted a short while and then again everyone needed to pay shipping. I figured no big deal. $5 wasn’t too bad and they seemed to improve the manner in which they secured the nose guard pieces in place. However it wasn’t a perfect improvement and they still fell off, though not as frequently. Now once again they changed their replacement policy. It’s a little more vague but apparently if you are more than 6 months out since your last replacement your also out of luck. Last month I requested a replacement due to a nose guard falling off. I was told I had too many replacements in 2020 (two really?) despite paying $5 each (again against the original agreement) and couldn’t get any more. I used the ones I had for a couple more weeks and the other nose guard fell off. Then the glasses broke in half! I called back and now instead of too many replacements within a specified time, it’s been over 6 months and the warranty expired. According to ThinOptics they can change the terms and conditions as they see fit. Despite KNOWING they make out charging $5 to ship replacements they won’t and instead offer you a measly 20% off a new pair. I’m kind of a dope because I used to promote these glasses when ever any one asked. I even bought a pair for someone as a gift not that long ago. However after debating with their customer service on the fairness of them breaching the original agreement and constantly changing the original understanding, I’ve decided to write this review and warn people against doing business with a company that treats long time customers this way, sells inferior products, denies claims and forces unacceptable changes based on “fine print”. Ill be going back to $1 cheaters at the local .99 store and suggest you do the same.
